Books by Bill Moran

My writing explores many of the same questions that have shaped my work as a therapist: Why do people suffer? Why do we repeat patterns we know are hurting us? What helps people change? How do psychology, philosophy, faith, relationships, and our understanding of the human person fit together?

These books are written for ordinary people rather than academics. My goal is to take serious psychological and spiritual ideas and make them understandable and useful in everyday life.

The Science of the Cross: Stress, Suffering, and the Psychology of Transformation

The Science of the Cross explores what psychology, physiology, philosophy, and Christian wisdom reveal about stress, suffering, resilience, and human transformation. Rather than treating suffering as something that can always be avoided, the book asks how difficulty can shape us and how we can respond with greater strength, meaning, and purpose.

Don’t Text When You Are Driving: Don’t SECS When You Are Married

The Four Things Running Your Marriage Off the Road — and a Return to the Vows

Marriage rarely runs off the road all at once. More often than not, couples slowly develop patterns that create resentment, distance, and disconnection.

In Don’t SECS When You Are Married, Bill Moran, LMFT, identifies four common behaviors that can quietly undermine a marriage: Scoring, Exiting, Change, and Silence. Drawing from years of working with couples, psychology, and real-life experience, the book explores why these patterns develop, how they keep couples stuck, and what it takes to begin moving in a different direction.

At its heart, this is not simply a book about communicating better. It is about finding your way back to each other — and ultimately, a return to the vows.
